Stewed sausages

Stewed sausage is part of a great Panamanian breakfast, full of flavor. I invite you to try out!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 onion
  • 1 clove garlic, finely chopped
  • 4 sweet peppers
  • 3 culantro leaves
  • 1 tablespoon oil it can be vegetable or olive oil
  • 1 pack sausages (8) , I used beef, but you can also use pork
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce , without salt
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

Prep

  • Chop onion, sweet peppers, culantro leaves, and sausages.

Cooking

  • Heat a medium saucepan. Add half of the oil and let it heat up.
  • Add the onion and sautee for 2 minutes.
  • Next, add the sweet peppers, garlic clove and half of your chopped culantro leaves and saute for 3 more minutes.
  • Now, add the remaining oil and the sausages and saute for five (5) more minutes, mixing frequently.
  • Add remaining ingredients: tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, and mix. Let it simmer for 5 minutes or until the sauce thickens. 
  • Add the remaining culantro leaves, mix and serve with your favorite side dish and enjoy!
